On November 9, 2025, our Toll Gate boys soccer team was declared Division III champions after an unforgettable performance that will go down in school history. This victory marked the Titans’ first championship title in 12 years, ending a long drought and bringing pride and excitement back to the Toll Gate community. The team secured the win with goals from senior, Greg Laliberte, and junior, Ryan Enos, whose skill, determination, and teamwork proved to be the difference in a hard-fought match.
This championship was especially meaningful for the Titans, as it marked the program’s first title since 2013 and served as redemption after a difficult 4–1 loss to Burrillville earlier in the season. That setback became a turning point, motivating the team to push harder, improve their chemistry, and remain focused throughout the remainder of the season. Through perseverance, strong leadership, and support from coaches and fans, the Titans were able to overcome adversity and finish on top. To learn more about the championship game and what this victory meant to the team, I asked senior Greg Laliberte a few questions about his experience and perspective on this historic achievement.
Question: “What were your feelings and emotions like stepping on that field knowing it was your last game no matter what the final score was?”
Answer: “No matter the result I couldn’t have been more grateful for the experience I had with soccer my whole life. All glory to God for opening my eyes and I thank Him for the opportunities, ups and downs, and the walk with Him. He was with me no matter what so I knew He had a plan and no matter what I would have been grateful for it, win or lose.”
Question: “How were you feeling the moment right after scoring the first goal of the game? “
Answer: “After scoring the goal I knew I had to run to the student section to get our energy up. Opening the game 1-0 was a critical moment for us, but I knew the game wasn’t over, and I knew we had to keep our composure.”
Question: “When your teammate Ryan Enos scored in the second half, how were you and your teammates feeling knowing you had that lead?”
Answer: “I was extremely comfortable with a 2-0 lead because we had only 10 minutes left. It was still a long time but if we held our ground like we did the whole game I knew we would be fine. Even when they scored one I knew we would still be fine.”
Question: “When you heard that final whistle being blown, what was going through your mind?”
Answer: “I feel like my mind was blank and I was just overjoyed. It was a dream come true coming back to Toll Gate and winning with the family I grew up with.”
