Mea Ayotte, Joshua Maynard, and John Maynard all made All-State as they capped off the Titans successful 2024 cross country campaign. Sophomore Mea Ayotte and senior Joshua Maynard both placed 19th overall in their respective races, and senior John Maynard placed 21st, all three doing enough to make the third team All-State roster. Additionally, both the boys and girls teams fielded a full team on the starting line for the first time since 2017, with both qualifying through the dual meets. Both teams finished 3rd in the Suburban Division.
Joshua Maynard and John Maynard ran personal records (PRs) of 16:34.31 and 16:37.61 respectively in their All-State performance, running the second and third fastest times on the Ponaganset course in Toll Gate history. Junior Oisin O’Donnell was third for the Titans, finishing in 101st place with a time of 18:46.11. Senior Ryan Brady finished in 18:48.70 in 104th place. Juniors William Goodine and Jake Andersen finished 117th (19:14.94) and 121st (19:16.61) overall respectively. Logan Legault, a junior, finished in 139th place, with a time of 21:43.88. The boys team finished in 11th place overall out of 18 qualified teams, their best result since 2011 when they finished 10th.
On the girls side, Ayotte ran a PR of 19:30.64 en route to her All-State placing, and ran the third fastest time on the Ponaganset course in school history. Fellow sophomore Anna O’Donnell finished 31st with a PR of 20:11.89. Freshmen Arianna Aunchman and Lexi Watson finished 104th and 133rd, with PRs of 23:11.00 and 24:39.49 respectively. Junior Shinyu Vega was right behind Watson, finishing in 24:50.79 in 134th place. Junior Myana O’Brien rounded out the team in 153rd place. The girls team finished 13th out of 21 teams with 381 points, their best finish since 2016, when the team finished in 12th.
The girls race was won by Pilgrim senior Keaney Bayha, and Cumberland took home the girls team title. Hendricken secured the boys championship, and La Salle’s Marshall Vernon won the individual title. The New England Championships take place in Manchester, Connecticut on Saturday, November 9th. John Maynard, Joshua Maynard, and Mea Ayotte have all qualified for the meet, but have not yet committed to run.
