On October 19th, the class of 2025 hosted this year’s annual trunk or treat event. The trunk or treat event is a great opportunity to build the sense of community within Toll Gate. It is always a fun and exciting time for the seniors who decorate their cars, as well as the young trick or treaters who delight in taking part in trunk or treat. Seniors who participate in trunk or treat are tasked with decorating the trunk of their cars and theming them. Seniors, Emma Hindle and Katelyn Watson, both enjoyed working together on their Barbie themed car.
Q: Could you give a brief explanation of what the trunk or treat event consists of?
Emma Hindle: “Trunk or treat is when the seniors volunteer and bring their cars to the Toll Gate parking lot and decorate the trunks of their cars and pass out candy to trick or treaters.”
Katelyn Watson: “It is basically where there’s a bunch of cars and people open their trunks and decorate their cars and dress up according to a theme and give out candy and the money [raised] goes to the senior class.
Q: How many cars took part in the Trunk or Treat?
Emma Hindle: “There were about 20 cars I would say.”
Katelyn Watson: “There were roughly around 15 cars.”
Q: What was your favorite part of trunk or treat?
Emma Hindle: “My favorite part was decorating my car and dressing up and eating candy.”
Katelyn Watson: “My favorite part was seeing all of the kids come and trick or treat and giving them candy. It was very cute. The Halloween spirit!”
Q: Did you enjoy volunteering at the trunk or treat?
Emma Hindle: “Yes, I enjoyed volunteering.”
Katelyn Watson: “I did in fact enjoy volunteering. It was a fun time and I believe that we had the best car.”
Q: What was your car theme?
Emma Hindle: “It was Barbie themed. So we had a lot of Barbie stuff there.”
Katelyn Watson: “Our car theme was Barbie. We had a Barbie Dreamhouse and we had all these Barbie dolls for kids to play with and we all dressed up as different Barbies.”
Q: Which was your favorite car theme?
Emma Hindle: “The Barbie Car.”
Katelyn Watson: “My own, the Barbie car. The Christmas car was also very well decorated.”
Q: Do you have any advice for the future seniors who will take part in their own trunk or treat?
Emma Hindle: “It was a fun event that people should take part in.”
Katelyn Watson: “Have fun, pick a good theme and participate.”
