Holiday Chorus Concert l 2023
The Toll Gate Chorus is back for another amazing school year of performances. Two concerts were held Thursday November 30th, one during the school day and another open to the public at night. This concert incorporated many of the classic holiday tunes you’ll hear during this season with their own unique twist.
I was very excited coming into this season’s Holiday Concert. We had some amazing Freshmen join the Chorus program this year, which really gave us the boost we needed. After the Covid years, there was a lack of experienced singers left, leaving most of us as either Freshmen or Sophomores. We were able to pick ourselves up by our bootstraps to struggle and learn as a team. I cannot be more grateful for the amazing team we’ve made this year. I can’t wait to be back next semester with our Spring Concert.a

Band & Orchestra Winter Concert l 2023
On Thursday December 7th, Toll Gate ‘tuned’’ to see the Toll Gate Band & Orchestra perform at their Winter Concert.
This semester, Mr. Reed put an emphasis on teaching about the classical era of music, especially surrounding Beethoven and his symphonies. Beethoven symphonies were groundbreaking during his time, as he broke all of the traditional rules to writing symphonies. This led to the growing popularity of his own. This theme was reflected in the concert, as all of the songs were picked based on Beethoven’s 9th symphony, ending in the finale of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 last movement. Being a challenging piece, each musician had to learn and understand the way Beethoven composed his movements. This resulted in a beautiful classical performance from the entire band and orchestra.
