The Toll Gate Lady Titans Soccer team is on a roll with making yet another championship finals appearance for the third time in four years. While leading in division 3A the Lady Titans just defeated Classical with a score of 3-1 last Tuesday on November 7th, 2023. Many thought that this team would struggle knowing that thirteen girls graduated from last season. Coming back from a State Championship win, this was a big rebuild year with many shoes that had to be filled. Last year, the record was 10-1-2, losing only to Westerly 5-2 in the regular season. This was the biggest opponent the team had faced in years.
This year, they lost 5-0 to Westerly again. Head coach Robert Enright expresses that the regular season doesn’t matter, for the reason being that they lost during the regular season last year and still beat Westerly in the Championship 1-0.
The 2023 championship game will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at Rhode Island College at 4 pm against our greatest rival, the Westerly Bulldogs. Coach Robert Enright and assistant coach Keith Randall are expecting the same outcome this year as last year. So, will history repeat itself and will the Lady Titans take home the gold once again? Update: After a thrilling game on Nov. 11, the Lady Titans, unfortunately, lost to the Westerly Bulldogs 0-4.
